Enhance local recordings as a monitored media batch

Source-backed example. Practical decision guidance is proposed and untested; this is not a full implementation guide.

The problem

Processing several recordings separately makes it hard to track unfinished files, failed effects and requests to stop work.

Agent job

Submit approved recordings for requested enhancements, monitor their shared batch and report each file's outcome while respecting pauses and cancellations.

Expected output

Completed media output paths alongside disclosed incomplete or cancelled items.

Why use this

  1. A media batch can look complete when only some files have finished processing. Paused work, failed effects and cancelled jobs need distinct statuses so that the owner does not mistake a partial folder of outputs for the whole requested delivery.

  2. This job could keep the batch state understandable at both project and file level. Preserving cancellation as a decision rather than an error would let the owner review completed assets without silently restarting work they deliberately stopped.

Why an agent / simpler alternative

Useful judgment

Interpret requested effects and explain mixed asynchronous outcomes while maintaining per-file traceability.

Simpler alternative

Use a fixed batch-processing script when every file receives the same supported transformation.

Unsuitable when

The owner cannot review transformed media or the effects must preserve forensic fidelity.

Proposed inputs

  1. Name

    Batch manifest

    Owner

    Media owner

    Minimum scope

Approved local paths, file IDs and requested effects

    Quality check

Check duplicates and distinguish original files from earlier outputs.

  2. Name

    Queue instructions

    Owner

    Media owner

    Minimum scope

Priority, pause state and any explicit cancellation requests

    Quality check

Record which jobs may run and which require fresh authorization.

Access and setup — proposed or unknown

Proposed minimum
  1. Read approved originals and write to a separate output directory; preserve a job-status manifest.

Compatibility unknowns
  1. Unknown: hardware requirements, current local MCP availability and supported media/effect combinations.

External actions requiring approval
  1. Installing software, resuming a user-paused queue or retrying cancelled work without a new request.

Expected deliverable and review checks

Proposed artifact

Per-file outcome table with output paths, applied effects, failures, pauses and cancellations.

Critical checks
  1. Completed paths identify readable outputs for the correct input.

  2. Cancelled jobs remain cancelled and incomplete files are not labelled delivered.

Missing output evidence

This overlay adds no new output inspection or execution validation. Preserve the canonical implementation evidence and its outcome limits.

Failure signals and proposed responses

  1. Signal

A shared batch reports success while one file has no output.

    Why it matters

The owner may publish or archive an incomplete set.

    Proposed response

Reconcile every manifest entry with its own terminal status and disclose the missing item.

  2. Signal

A retry treats cancellation as a transient failure.

    Why it matters

The system would override the owner’s deliberate stop.

    Proposed response

Leave the job cancelled and wait for a new explicit request covering that file.

Effort and cost — unknown

Setup work
  1. Build the manifest and choose preservation and naming rules for originals.

Ongoing review
  1. Inspect changed audio or video and reconcile asynchronous outcomes.

Unknowns
  1. Unknown: hardware load, processing duration, storage needs and usage costs.

First check — proposed, unexecuted

Status

proposed_unexecuted

Synthetic fixture

A synthetic batch manifest contains one completed clip, one failed clip and one user-cancelled clip.

Acceptance checks
  1. Only the completed clip receives a deliverable path.

  2. The failed and cancelled entries have different next steps, with no automatic cancelled-job retry.

Stop conditions
  1. Software installation or renewed execution permission is required.

Limits

  1. Pause and cancellation instructions must remain explicit in the proposed manifest; hardware compatibility is unknown.

Proposed Canadian adaptation
Proposed: verify supported Canadian hardware/software access and media rights; check locally processed outputs for quality and accidental disclosure before sharing.
Recommended approval boundaries
Approve source media, effects and output folder; confirm recording subjects’ permission, preserve originals and respect cancellation.
