Have an agent add voice input using an existing transcription service

Source-backed example. Practical decision guidance is proposed and untested; this is not a full implementation guide.

The problem

People who send voice messages need those recordings converted into usable agent input without manually transcribing each request.

Agent job

Use the supplied interface documentation to add a Telegram-audio transcription hook and return the resulting text to the agent's task loop.

Expected output

Version-controlled integration changes for review and testing with the approved transcription service.

Why use this

  1. An agent owner adding voice input may need to connect asynchronous transcription results with the correct original message. A late or duplicated result can otherwise enter the task loop twice or be attributed to the wrong speaker.

  2. A version-controlled integration plan could make message identity, consent and error states explicit before any audio leaves the messaging service. The owner could review how transcription uncertainty is handled instead of assuming the returned text is an exact instruction.

Why an agent / simpler alternative

Useful judgment

Translate service documentation into a bounded event flow and identify ambiguous transcription/result states.

Simpler alternative

Use the messaging app’s existing transcription feature when manual forwarding is sufficient.

Unsuitable when

Audio-sharing permission, speaker authority or credential handling is unclear.

Proposed inputs

  1. Name

    Approved service documentation

    Owner

    System owner

    Minimum scope

Relevant submission, polling/callback and result schema details

    Quality check

Check version and documented failure/retry behavior.

  2. Name

    Voice-input boundaries

    Owner

    Owner

    Minimum scope

Permitted audio sources, destinations and instruction-confirmation rules

    Quality check

Clarify whose messages may authorize actions and how uncertain transcripts are reviewed.

Access and setup — proposed or unknown

Proposed minimum
  1. Offline event-flow design and placeholder configuration; no tokens or real audio.

Compatibility unknowns
  1. Unknown: exact runtime, Telegram integration, transcription service availability and callback delivery.

External actions requiring approval
  1. Uploading recordings, configuring persistent credentials or deploying the hook.

Expected deliverable and review checks

Proposed artifact

Integration-change proposal with message/result correlation, error handling and review checkpoints.

Critical checks
  1. A result maps to exactly the intended original message.

  2. Duplicate or uncertain transcripts do not silently trigger consequential actions.

Missing output evidence

No new workflow run or output inspection was performed for this overlay.

Failure signals and proposed responses

  1. Signal

A delayed callback arrives after a retry already completed.

    Why it matters

The same voice request could be processed twice.

    Proposed response

Track stable message/job IDs and hold duplicate results.

  2. Signal

The transcript changes a critical name or amount.

    Why it matters

Acting on it could exceed the speaker’s intent.

    Proposed response

Require clarification for consequential ambiguity before task execution.

Effort and cost — unknown

Setup work
  1. Define audio-consent scope and asynchronous state transitions.

Ongoing review
  1. Inspect integration diffs and error/privacy behavior in separate authorized tests.

Unknowns
  1. Unknown: transcription accuracy, service charges and data-retention behavior.

First check — proposed, unexecuted

Status

proposed_unexecuted

Synthetic fixture

An invented event manifest includes two callbacks for one message and a transcript marked low-confidence on an amount.

Acceptance checks
  1. The duplicate is held.

  2. The amount requires confirmation rather than execution.

Stop conditions
  1. Real audio, credentials or deployment authority is needed.

Limits

  1. Editorial integration design; no transcription, callback reliability or action-safety validation is established.
